About Me

Hello friends and fellow money savers, my name is Heather and I am the Bargain Bin Traveler!  I live on the philosophy that “where there’s a will, there’s a way” and I believe it’s possible to have champagne taste on a beer budget, even when it comes to travel.

A little background on me: I was born and raised in California, near L.A. (yes, that L.A.), and found myself in Louisville, Kentucky about 12 years ago. I was an overachiever in high school and thus, got into a great university. Naturally, I thought I had figured out what I wanted to do: law school. After graduation though, the prospect of being in student loan debt for umpteen years was terrifying, so I moved on to Event Coordinating. That was fun…for a while. From there, I moved on to sales: jewelry, then real estate, then insurance. I didn’t stick with any for very long. In case you couldn’t tell, I get bored easily. I couldn’t stay at one job for more than about a year before I would go stir-crazy. Perhaps it was just because I hadn’t found a passion that paid…and this, my friends, is why I started blogging!

Now, I’ve always LOVED to travel…I don’t even remember how old I was when I boarded my first plane! However, travel is a very different animal when your parents are no longer paying your way. Ugh! Adulting! Am I right? Thankfully, being raised by a single mom taught me how to stretch a dollar! For most of us, the majority of our paycheck goes straight to responsibilities, and travel is something only attainable with years of strategic saving. This is why I’m here! I want to provide anyone and everyone with my tips and tricks to making frequent travel a possibility! I also hope to inspire you to go out and chase your dreams by sharing my personal travel stories and experiences.
